Chito Roño Reunites with Vilma Santos in 'The Healing'

After a decade, highly acclaimed Filipino writer, film producer and award-winning master director Chito S. Roño teams up once again with Philippine Cinema’s Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos for Star Cinema’s newest suspense-horror offering titled, “The Healing,” that is set to hit theaters on July 25.

The power tandem of Direk Chito and Ate Vi is back on the silverscreen after ten years since they made the “Dekada 70” in 2002. They also teamed up in 1998 via another serious drama “Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?”

This year, the two movie stalwarts join forces once more to offer the moviegoers with another unforgettable masterpiece—Ate Vi’s first-ever horror movie–that is set to introduce a new brand of Pinoy horror in Philippine cinema through “The Healing,” which features a story about the Filipino tradition of going to faith healers for guidance and treatment of ailments.

Direk Chito and Vilma’s reunion project makes the Star for All Season proud of another milestone happening in her golden anniversary in the entertainment industry. “I’ve been asking Chito for so long for something this and I’m so glad that it’s finally happening. 'The Healing' Official Movie Poster, Unveiled!

Star Cinema has released the official poster of the movie The Healing starring Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu. 

The movie poster shows Kim Chiu being prayed over by a faith healer while Vilma Santos is looking earnestly at Kim. Other members of the cast were embedded in the white background in what looks like a window which suggests that they were not part of the living world.

Aside from Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu, The Healing also stars Mark Gil, Martin del Rosario, Allan Paule, Cris Villanueva, Daria Ramirez, Ces Quesada, Ynez Veneracion, Simon Ibarra, Abi Bautista, Joel Torre, Chinggoy Alonso, Mon Confiado, Carmi Martin and Pokwang. It is Vilma Santos' 50th anniversary movie.

'The Healing' Uncut Exclusive Web Trailer Released!

Star Cinema released an uncut and exclusive web trailer of the upcoming suspense-horror movie The Healing which stars Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto and Kim Chiu.

The Healing is Gov. Vilma Santos' 50th anniversary movie and her first ever suspense-horror film. It will tackle Filipinos' tradition of resorting to faith healers for guidance and treatment of ailments with a horrifying twist.

'The Healing' Official Full Trailer Released!

Star Cinema has just released the official full trailer for the upcoming horror/suspense movie The Healing starring Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu. The Healing full trailer premiered on television, July 1st on The Buzz.

The Healing is Gov. Vilma Santos' 50th anniversary movie and this is equally monumental as the Star For All Season's first ever suspense-horror film. It will tackle Filipinos' tradition of resorting to faith healers for guidance and treatment of ailments with a horrifying twist.

'The Healing' Starring Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu Showing this July 25

Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu star in the upcoming horror film The Healing under Star Cinema. The movie is the first time we will see Kim Chiu and Governor Vi together in the big screen.

The Healing, which is directed by no less than Chito S. Roño (Feng Shui, Sukob, T2) is set for a July 25 release.

In The Healing, Gov. Vilma Santos will be playing a stepmother role to Kim's character. Meanwhile, Kim's role is very challenging as her character has a doppelgänger. This term, which literally means "double walker" in German, refers to a ghostly double of a living person, typically representing evil or misfortune. 

In an interview, Kim said that she learned a lot working with Gov. Vi and Direk Chito. “It’s a wonderful experience. Ang dami kong natutunan sa kanya as an actress and as a person, and kay direk Chito (Roño) rin, sobra akong nag-enjoy. Parang nag-grow ‘yung acting ko. Marami akong natutunan in terms of work sa set.”

Kim also shared an advice from the Star For All Seasons. “Sabi niya, gawin mo ang dapat mong gawin sa isang eksena, huwag mong sasayangin. Paulit-ulit niyang sinasabi na sayang ‘yung eksena.”

Aside from Kim and Gov. Vi, The Healing also stars Janice De Belen, Martin del Rosario, Mark Gil, Carmi Martin, Cris Villanueva, Ynez Veneracion and Pokwang.
