Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler to Crown Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Winner

Posted on February 9, 2014 | 8:13 PM

Miss Universe 2013 Maria Gabriela Isler of Venezuela is Manila-bound this March to crown this year's Bb. Pilipinas-Universe winner (Miss Universe-Philippines 2014) who will compete in the Miss Universe pageant later in the year.

The news was confirmed to the Philippine Star (Funfare Update) by the head of Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta.

The grand coronation night of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 will be held on March 30 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Forty candidates will vie for the four crowns at stake—Miss Universe-Philippines 2014, Bb. Pilipinas-International 2014, Bb.Pilipinas-Tourism 2014 and Bb. Pilipinas-Supranational 2014.

The visit of the reigning Miss Universe to the Philippines is a good sign that the country is having a good relationship with the Miss Universe Organization. Last year, Ariella Arida finished third runner up, sealing the country's four consecutive placements in the Miss Universe top 5.

With the country producing several winners and runners up in the worldwide pageant arena recently, there is no doubt that the whole world will be anticipating the crowning of our new queens.

The 51st edition of Bb. Pilipinas will be a historical one as three international queens will be present to crown the local pageant winners. Aside from Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler, Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago and Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul will also be crowning their local successors.

It seems that 2014 is another good year for the Philippines in terms of pageantry as reports circulating suggested the staging of Miss World 2014 pageant in the country for the first time. The current Miss World, Megan Young is also from the Philippines.

The beauty kings and queens of the year 2013 from the PhilippinesThe year 2013 has been a very successful one for the Philippines in the field of beauty pageants and now considered the best year the country has ever had in terms of pageantry. Without any doubt, the Philippines is country of the year when it comes to beauty competitions.

This year, our representatives to both male and female pageants did very well, bringing home five crowns, six runner-up trophies, and two semifinals honors in major pageants as well as in a handful of other pageants overseas. A history was also made this year as the Philippines became the first and only country in the world to have won all six major titles—Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International, Miss Supranational and Miss Tourism Queen International.
Here's a run-down of the beauty kings and queens that made the Philippines proud in 2013:

Megan Young

1. Megan Young, winner, 63rd Miss World
Megan made history as the very first Filipina to win the Miss World crown which has been elusive to a Filipina for the past six decades. Megan, who is the favorite to win the title, bested over 120 delegates all over the world at the 63rd edition of the pageant held on September 28 in Bali, Indonesia.

Bea Rose Santiago

2. Bea Rose Santiago, winner, 53rd Miss International
Bea Rose is the fifth Filipina to win the title of Miss International. The Pinay beauty from Masbate beat 66 others in the finals held on December 17 in Tokyo, Japan. Bea’s success in Miss International finally sealed the Philippines’ status as country of the year 2013 in world pageantry.

I would like to thank all the nations that helped my country. In our darkest hours, you have opened my eyes and my heart in how important it is if we all just support each other. If I become Miss International, I will uphold international camaraderie to sustain the spirit for symphaty and to continually share the message of hope. I believe that whatever calamity may come to us, as long as we have each other, there will be hope. Thank you."

According to reports, Ikumi Yoshimatsu filed a criminal complaint against a top talent agency executive for obstruction of business, stalking, intimidation and extortion. She accused the executive of threatening her life after she refused to sign in the said agency and forming her own instead.

In lieu of Ikumi, the new Miss International 2013 was crowned by 2008 titleholder, Alejandra Andreu of Spain.
