Kris Aquino on Network Transfer: "I'll consider what my audience wants."

Posted on January 4, 2014 | 10:52 AM

Just recently, Queen of all media Kris Aquino was rumored to leave ABS-CBN for rival network GMA-7. Her transfer to the Kapuso network is said to be 90% sure, according to a source (read details here).

Kris Aquino network transfer

Kris Aquino, who is currently in London to bond with sons Bimby and Josh, said that the vacation is also her way of evading intrigues. "Para iwas intriga na rin muna kasi napapabalita 'yung pagre-renew [ng contract]. Magmumuni-muni po at aalis," she told ABS-CBN News.

On Friday, however, Kris posted a meaningful message on Instagram, pertaining to the much talked-about network transfer. Kris said that she's asking for guidance and wisdom about a big decision she will make.

"Good Morning from London... Going to Mass at noon. First Friday, time to bring back my Sacred Heart of Jesus devotion... Time to say THANK YOU, for the blessing of 300 million +++ in the box office for My Little Bossings... Time to ask for GUIDANCE & WISDOM..."

Kris also said that in making this decision, she will consider what her fans want, apart from what's beneficial for his two sons.

"Pls know that whatever decision I make, apart from considering what will be most beneficial for my 2 sons, it's very important to me to consider what you, my audience, wants... That's why it's good for me to be away now, to just be w/ my sons, so that I can reflect very carefully... God bless you all. Happy 1st Friday of 2014!"

Kris Aquino is slated to return from vacation this January 9 and also set to have a "big announcement" the same day. Could it be about the rumored network transfer? We'll see.

DZMM Radyo Patrol 630′s “11th Buntis Congress” received a Quill award for equipping and nurturing future mothers with the knowledge they need during and after pregnancy. On its 11th year, Buntis Congress expanded its coverage by conducting summits outside Metro Manila to reach more expectant moms.

ABS-CBN Digital News Media’s COMELEC Halalan App, which provided users real-time results of the midterm polls straight from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), voter registration information, and precinct locations via a mobile app on smartphones and tablets, also won a Quill award. ABS-CBN is the only network partnered by COMELEC to create and offer a mobile app customized to fit voters’ needs. The app recorded a total of 6.7 million page views on Android and iOs in May 2013.

ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management also bagged a Quill for the network’s 2012 Christmas Station ID entitled “Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko.” The annually anticipated music video highlighted the heroic deeds of Filipinos during Habagat and encouraged viewers to serve as light to other people’s lives by doing simple acts of kindness. Through a 360 marketing campaign designed by ABS-CBN, the film was aired on free-to-air television and on cable, had a red carpet cinema premiere, was screened at the prestigious 69th Venice Film Festival, was released internationally on pay-per-view via Global TV, and was distributed commercially on DVD.

ABS-CBN Corporate Communications bagged another Quill for its 2012 Media Christmas Party where it gathered more than 200 members of the entertainment press and bloggers. The event, which gained positive feedback from the attendees, aimed to give its special guests a chance to experience ABS-CBN’s brand of entertainment first-hand as they actively took part in It’s Showtime’s interactive segment “Sine Mo ‘To,” felt the thrill of playing the “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal,” experienced being the 24K Girls, and took part in a press version of the station ID.

Arnold Clavio Criticized After Napoles Lawyer Alfredo Villamor Interview (Video)

Posted on November 5, 2013 | 3:14 PM

GMA-7 broadcast journalist Arnold Clavio drew flak from netizens after a phone patch interview with Atty. Alfredo Villamor, Janet Lim-Napoles' lawyer for the latter's serious illegal detention case.

Arnold Clavio Criticized after Napoles lawyer Interview

According to netizens, Arnold Clavio threw unprofessional side comments while interviewing Janet Napoles' lawyer on Unang Balita Tuesday morning. In the video making rounds in social media, Clavio was quoted to have told Atty. Villamor "rude" statements such as "Pansira ka ng araw eh," and "Tatawa-tawa ka pa."

Apparently, Arnold Clavio got irked after the said lawyer started to beat around the bush when asked by the broadcaster. However, some netizens opined that Clavio's behavior was a sign of being unprofessional, rude and arrogant—cutting the interview while the other person was still talking and even telling the lawyer that he's just a waste of time (in a sense).

"Sana pala hindi namin kayo natawagan, salamat ho, wala ho akong nakuha sa inyo [na relevant information]. Salamat po attorney," Clavio remarked before cutting the interview on air.

What can you say about this issue? Check the video of Arnold Clavio's interview with Atty. Alfredo Villamor below and be the judge.

Judy Ann Santos to Transfer Network When Soap Ends? Will it be TV-5 or GMA-7?

Posted on August 7, 2013 | 12:03 PM

Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera Judy Ann Santos is reportedly considering a network switch after the end of her teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala on ABS-CBN.

Judy Ann Santos to Transfer Network?

According to reports, Judy Ann Santos is now weighing options whether to transfer or not. Judy Ann's manager, Alfie Lorenzo said that they will be attending a dinner-meeting with TV-5 boss Manny V. Pangilinan. There are also talks that Juday and Tito Alfie will also meet with GMA-7 executives.

Judy Ann Santos' contract with ABS-CBN expired last July and the queen is now free to grab any offer from rival networks while ABS-CBN, her home network for two decades, is still drafting a new contract for her to consider.

Rumor has it that Judy Ann Santos' camp felt bad when the network decided to move her comeback teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala to a later timeslot to give way to Muling Buksan Ang Puso, when it was doing better in TV ratings. This time, the network allegedly wanted to move the show's timeslot again to accommodate Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's teleserye Got to Believe.

Judy Ann allegedly got offended after executives told her the move and in disappointment, Judy Ann reportedly decided to just end her teleserye the soonest instead of being placed at a later timeslot (fourth in primetime after evening newscast) where there is very limited viewership.

Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala premiered last June 17 and there are reports that it will air its finale on August 23, two months after it first aired on TV.

Many netizens feel with Juday because despite being bestowed the title of 'Teleserye Queen,' her series were always cut short and barely last long, with follow up teleserye happening after about 2 years.

Will Juday finally end her loyalty to ABS-CBN and leave the network? If she decides to do so, where will we see Judy Ann next—TV-5 or GMA-7?

Ogie Alcasid Transfers to TV-5 | Will Wife Regine Velasquez Follow Suit and Leave GMA Network?

Posted on July 25, 2013 | 10:32 AM

Comedian and singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid is leaving GMA-7, his home for 18 years, to transfer the country's number 3 network TV-5, entertainment website PEP.ph reported on Wednesday.

Ogie Alcasid Transfers to TV-5

According to the report, Ogie Alcasid met with GMA Network executives last week to tell them his decision of switching networks. Ogie said that the conversation went well and that GMA-7 big boss Felipe Gozon appreciated his honesty.

Meanwhile, GMA Network has released its official statement regarding Ogie Alcasid's transfer to TV-5. The statement reads:

"As Ogie Alcasid moves on to explore new grounds, GMA Network, his home for almost two decades, wishes him all the best. We thank him for being a part of the Network's success all these years.

"His achievements as a singer, songwriter, comedian, host and actor make Ogie the icon that he is now. And the Kapuso Network is proud to have been with him throughout this journey."

Even without prior confirmation on Ogie's decision, rumors abound said that his wife Regine Velasquez will follow him in the Kapatid network once her contract with GMA-7 expires. The Asia's songbird, however, denied speculations that she will transfer while defending Ogie from bashers.

"At sino ba kasi ang nagsabi na lilipat ako ha may alam ka ba na hindi ko alam?? nakausap mo ba si MVP o si mr Gozon o si Gabby Lopez kaya?? Nakita nyo ba ako sa tv na nagsabing i'm moving??," Regine answered the basher who keeps on saying that Ogie caused Regine's downfall.

It is not clear yet what projects await Ogie in the Kapatid network but certain talks claimed that he might be one of the hosts in a new TV-5 noontime show which will replace Wowowillie after Willie's show bids goodbye this October.

Tom Rodriguez Wants Kissing Scene with Dennis Trillo; Explains Why He Left ABS-CBN

Posted on June 9, 2013 | 4:51 PM

Former PBB housemate Tom Rodriguez transfers to GMA-7 despite his stint on the country's number 1 daytime program Be Careful With My Heart.

"Mahirap kasi tanggihan ang My Husband's Lover," said Tom in an interview with Journal.

Tom is talking about an upcoming Kapuso teleserye where he will play one of the leads along with Dennis Trillo and Carla Abellana. The show is a controversial one as it will be the first time that a teleserye will be tackling gay relationships.

Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez play lovers in new Kapuso soap

Tom said that his co-stars in Be Careful With My Heart, where he plays Jeff (Aiza Seguerra's bestfriend and love interest, and father to Cho, played by JM Ibanez), were emotional when he bade the show goodbye.

"Nagpaalam naman ako nang maayos, nag-iyakan nga ang co-stars ko [sa Be Careful With My Heart] on my last taping day with them. Pinalabas na lang na nag-abroad ang character ko," said Tom.

Tom, who auditioned for the role in My Husband's Lover, said that he just can't let the opportunity pass.

"This is a lot of firsts for me. First soap ko sa GMA, first time ko to work with Carla, Dennis and Director Dom, first time ko to play a gay character. I really like the script which is very well written and I couldn’t just let it pass. I’m proud and honored to be part of the show."

In My Husband's Lover, Tom will play Vincent, a discreet gay who is married to Lally played by Carla Abellana. He will be having an affair with Eric, an architect played by Dennis Trillo.

"To be good in my role, I did a lot of research on my own and I found out that homosexual love is not really different from a heterosexual one. Gay lang sila but the feelings of loving and caring for the loved one are the same," added Tom.

Tom is very much dedicated with this project that he insisted that he and Dennis, who are very much in love with each other, should have a kissing scene. Unfortunately, MTRCB will not allow that gay love scene, especially passionate kissing scene, on national TV.

Sunday All Stars: Same Artists, Different Format, One Sunday Entertainment

Posted on June 8, 2013 | 10:52 AM

The Kapuso network will air soon the replacement of Party Pilipinas, the defunct Sunday musical variety show of GMA-7. Titled Sunday All Stars, the show promised an all-out fun Sunday afternoon for the whole family.

Sunday All Stars

According to reports and press releases, Sunday All Stars will infuse a new level of noontime TV experience with music and games. Every week, there will also be a showdown of 4 celebrity teams headed by Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Jolina Magdangal and Jennylyn Mercado.

SOP and Party Pilipinas mainstays Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Jaya and Janno Gibbs will also be part of Sunday All Stars together with younger generations of Kapuso stars including Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Carla Abellana, Rachelle Ann Go, Julie Anne San Jose, Elmo Magalona, Alden Richards, Glaiza de Castro and a lot more.

In previous reports after Party Pilipinas was axed, it was revealed that 50% of the defunct's show cast members will be part of its replacement and it's not surprising to see the ones above in the new show. After all, they were the stars referred to in the title Sunday All Stars.

Directed by Rommel Gacho, Sunday All Stars "will definitely bring fun and excitement every Sunday afternoon through its world-class performers, ground-breaking concepts, and inventive production numbers this June," said a press release.

On its Facebook page, it was indicated that Sunday All Stars will go head-to-head with longest-running Sunday musical variety show ASAP 18 starting June 16. Can the tested formula of celebrity competitions with loud numbers and extravagant production value save GMA-7's Sunday noontime?

We'll just see on the 16th.

Party Pilipinas Bids Goodbye, To Air Finale Episode on May 19

Posted on May 12, 2013 | 8:09 PM

GMA-7's Sunday musical variety show Party Pilipinas will soon go off air. The three-year Sunday show will finally bid goodbye this May 19. The news came out after the Kapuso network cancelled another Sunday show H.O.T TV (Hindi Ordinaryong Tsismis).

Party Pilipinas Bids Goodbye, To Air Finale Episode on May 19

The end of Party Pilipinas was confirmed by Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA Network's OIC for Entertainment TV. In a statement sent to PEP, Ms. Rasonable talked of a new musical variety show that will replace Party Pilipinas in an attempt to boost GMA-7's Sunday noontime offering.

The statement reads:

"In a few weeks, there will be exciting changes in the Sunday noontime offering of GMA. The new musical variety show will have more fun and thrilling elements that viewers must definitely watch out for, still with the biggest and brightest Kapuso stars. More information on the show will be announced soon."

Performers of the show took to Twitter expressing their gratitude to those who supported the show on its three-year run.

"Sa lahat ng sumuporta sa Amin sa partypilipinas, salamat! It has been an awesome 3 years. We will never forget you. We love you," Ogie Alcasid posted on his official Twitter account.

"Thank you for supporting Party Pilipinas next week will be our last! Thanks so much for ur love and until next time:-)," Jaya said on Twitter confirming that May 19 will be their last episode, which is said to have the title Party Pilipinas Take A Bow.

Rumor has it that there became an unhealthy competition between the two teams in the show, involving the directors. However, one possible reason for Party Pilipinas' demise is very much like what happened on its predecessor SOP going off air after being consistently beaten by rival ASAP of ABS-CBN.

There has been reports that Level Up will be replacing Party Pilipinas as the new Kapuso Sunday noontime variety show but nothing has been finalized yet.

Well, what will happen now to Christian Bautista who just transferred to the Kapuso network and went on to perform in Party Pilipinas? He may be joining the replacement but surely, GMA-7 has a teleserye for him. As for the other performers of the show, let's just wish them luck on their every endeavor.

Singer-actress Julie Anne San Jose accidentally fell on stage while dancing in Party Pilipinas Sunday, January 6.

After Julie Anne's fall, the music stopped and her co-performers and PP staff crowded on her. As seen on Julie Anne's reaction, she was badly hurt (she's even teary eyed and you can feel she's in pain). It was Elmo Magalona who played the hero and rescued Julie Anne from that apparent accident. The gentlemanly gesture of Elmo was applauded by the audience.

JuliElmo did a duet after the accidental fall on stage of Julie Ann San Jose (Party Pilipiinas, January 6)

Julie Anne San Jose's fall and rise embodied the theme of Party Pilipinas that day which is "Stronger" as she continued performing right after and nailed an emotional duet with Elmo Magalona. Ian Batherson to Transfer to ABS-CBN, New Kapamilya Hunk

Posted on September 15, 2012 | 9:47 AM

Ian Batherson transfers to ABS-CBNStarstruck alumnus Ian Batherson is said to be transferring to the Kapamilya network. The Cosmo bachelor (who is one of this year's centerfold hunks) has been talking lately about the big shift in his career, and that is moving from GMA-7 to rival ABS-CBN.

Following one meaningful tweet late August, Ian said that he made a few "tactical adjustments" in his career after waiting for so long. Ian Batherson's only notable project in GMA-7 after Starstruck V was the afternoon soap Sisid following a stint in another reality show,  Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown. Ian has been visible though in several TV commercials like Close Up and Charmee with Sarah Geronimo.

Ian Batherson soon to be a Kapamilya"Got more things coming up in my career MALAKING changes. Makikita mo ko sa big screen soon. ;) work hard play hard ppl," expressed Ian in one of his tweets early September, implying that a new movie project is coming his way.

Ian Batherson also confirmed that he do have a meeting with ABS-CBN last September 8 and that he had a huge appointment in a TV station.

Ian Batherson's transfer to ABS-CBN (although there's no official confirmation yet) will be the nth time that  a product of GMA-7's artista search Starstruck decided to switch networks. If the deal pushes through, Ian will be following Johan Santos, his batch mate Piero Vergara, the late Tyron Perez, Paul Salas (Starstruck Kids), Jewel Mische, Megan Young, Cristine Reyes and Paulo Avelino as Starstruck alumni who transferred to ABS-CBN.

We can't blame Ian, if he chose to leave his mother studio for greener pastures. Just look at Megan, Jewel, Cristine and Paulo and how their respective careers flourished with ABS-CBN. With this move, we might see Ian bigger than his batch mates Enzo Pineda, Rocco Nacino, and winners Sarah Lahbati and Steven Silva.

Protégé Shock: Andres Vasquez and Three Others Eliminated!

Posted on September 3, 2012 | 6:23 PM

It was a shocking Sunday night (September 2) on Protégé: The Battle for the Big Artista Break as four hopefuls were eliminated after last week's single elimination of Reese Tayag.

Andres Vasquez from Mega Manila who was hailed as the 'Best Performer' and 'Director's Choice' on last week's short film challenge with Maricel Soriano and Cannes Best Director Brilliante Mendoza was sent packing along with three other Protégés Vien Allen King (Mega Manila), David John Llanas and Steffi Pacheco (both from Mindanao).

Protege: Andres Vasquez, Steffi Pacheco, Vien Allen King and David John Llanas eliminated!

The said episode indeed shock viewers and trended on Twitter with the hashtag #ProtegeShock. Now, only 10 finalists were left and they are Elle Ramirez from Mega Manila, Japs De Luna and Shelly Hipolito from Northern & Central Luzon, Jeric Gonzales, Arny Ross and Thea Tolentino from South Luzon, Bryan Benedict, Mikoy morales and Zandra Summer from Visayas and Ruru Madrid from Mindanao.

Another thing that shocked the entire Protégénation was the mentors walking out after they were forced by the production to choose only one from their Protégés.

What could be the reason for these Protégé shockers? Probably, the top 10 will be distributed equally to every mentor the reason that they were asked to choose only one. Some said that a wildcard will definitely happen as a twist since one of the best Protégés was eliminated.

What do you think about this Protégé shock?

From last week's group performances, two from each group became part of the bottom two who will compete against each other for a slot in the competition.

The bottom 2 Protégés had a showdown showcasing their talents whether it was singing, dancing or acting to help their mentors decide on who to eliminate. The judges (composed of guru Joey De Leon, director Bert De Leon, actress Cherie Gil and GMA Films head Annette Gozon-Abrogar) made some remarks that could influence the decision of the mentors.

North and Central Luzon Protégé mentor Ricky Davao chose Japs De Luna over Glenn Roy while Mega Manila Protégé mentor Roderick Paulate voted Kelly D out and saved Vien Allen King. Visayas Protégé mentor Jolina Magdangal saved Zandra Summer and let go of Mitch Capili while South Luzon Protégé mentor Gina Alajar chose Arny Ross over Mykel Ong.
