Ella Cruz, Francis Magundayao, Khalil Ramos, Jane Oineza, Liza Soberano on 'Singing Bee' this Week

Filipinos definitely want their daily dose of ‘vitamin bee’ brought to them by “The Singing Bee,” as the hit musical game show has consistently ruled its timeslot and beat its rival program in the ratings game since it started airing on weekday mornings.

Viewers nationwide warmly welcomed “The Singing Bee” as the show hit an average national TV rating  of 14.8% in its pilot week (Feb 24 to 28), or nine points higher than GMA’s “Tunay Na Buhay” with only 5.6%, based on data from Kantar Media. It also debuted strongly last February 24, recording a national TV rating of 15.8%, or almost triple that of “Tunay Na Buhay’s” 5.7%.

The country’s new morning habit continues this week with Kapamilya stars Jason Abalos, Ejay Falcon, Empress Schuck, and Liza Soberano trying out their luck on the show this Monday (Mar 10).

News personalities Anthony Taberna, Doris Bigornia, Winnie Cordero, and Bernadette Sembrano will take a break from reporting hard news and will set off the fun on Tuesday (Mar 11).

They will be followed by favorite teen stars Jane Oineza, Khalil Ramos, Francis Magundayao, and Ella Cruz on Wednesday (Mar 12), while Beauty Gonzales, Cai Cortez, Joross Gamboa, and Edgar Allan Guzman join the fun on Thursday (Mar 13).

Who among the four groups will emerge as daily winners and return on Friday (Mar 14) for a chance to win the coveted P1 million jackpot prize?

Anak TV Awards Honors ABS-CBN Shows, Personalities; Kapamilya Dominates

ABS-CBN once again dominated the Anak TV Awards for its personalities and programs that are certified child-friendly as voted by parents, teachers, non-government organizations, and other sectors of society.

Kapamilya personalities ruled the roster of male and female Makabata stars based on the Boto Ko ‘To survey that asked adult respondents to vote for local TV personalities they found most admirable.

Leading the winners with Hall of Fame awards were popstar Sarah Geronimo and broadcast journalist Bernadette Sembrano who consistently topped the survey in the past eight years. The two join ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos, Angel Locsin, Jodi Sta. Maria, Judy Ann Santos, Karen Davila, Kathryn Bernardo and Kim Chiu in the top ten list of female Makabata stars.

Anthony Taberna, Coco Martin, Daniel Padilla, Kim Atienza, Noli de Castro, Richard Yap, and Ted Failon were included in the roster of male Makabata stars who are deemed as the most wholesome and worth emulating by the youth today.

ABS-CBN programs “TV Patrol,” “Be Careful With My Heart,” “Matanglawin,” “Ina, Kapatid, Anak,” “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” “Rated K,” “Juan dela Cruz,” and “It’s Showtime,” on the other hand, were named as the country’s Most Well-Liked TV Programs for 2013.

Meanwhile, the Anak TV Seal, which is a seal of good housekeeping on Philippine television, was awarded to programs deemed “wholesome” and “generally child-safe” by the jurors. Among the Kapamilya programs recognized this year are “Animazing Tales,” “Be Careful With My Heart,” “I Got It,” “Matanglawin,” “Ni Hao Kailan,” “Salamat Dok,” “Wansapanataym,” and “Why Not.”

The network’s regional programs “Agri Tayo Dito,” “Bayanijuan,” “Bida Kapampangan,” “MagTV na Atin To (Baguio),” “MagTV na Ato Ni (CDO),” MagTV na (Cebu),” MagTV na (Oragon),” “MagTV na Sadya Ta (Davao),” and “Salandigan” also received the coveted seals.

Overall, ABS-CBN took home a total of 41 accolades from Anak TV Awards including 17 Anak TV seals this year.

The Anak TV Awards is an annual national recognition given by the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children and Television honoring child-sensitive programs and personalities in the Philippines. This year’s awarding ceremony was held at the Soka Gakkai Building in Timog, Quezon City.

Amy Perez Joins Umagang Kay Ganda Family

Mornings get even brighter as television host and returning Kapamilya Amy Perez is now part of ABS-CBN’s morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda” (UKG).

Aside from her fellow UKG anchors Anthony Taberna, Bernadette Sembrano, Bianca Gonzales, Atom Araullo, Ariel Ureta, Winnie Cordero, and Zen Hernandez, Amy was also greeted and warmly welcomed by various Kapamilya stars such as Vice Ganda, Enrique Gil, Luis Manzano, Jericho Rosales, Andi Eigenmann, Cristine Reyes, Maja Salvador, Nikki Gil, Julia Montes, Gerald Anderson, Vina Morales, and Zsa Zsa Padilla via a VTR last Monday (Dec 2).

Amy Perez receives a warm welcome from her new UKG family

Amy started her career in show business as an actress back in 1984. She appeared in movies like “Campus Beat” and “Jack & Jill” before she ventured into hosting. Her biggest break as a host happened in the early 90s when she hosted “’Sang Linggo nAPO Sila,” which was immediately followed by “Magandang Tanghali Bayan.”

She also appeared on television with her role as Amelia in the long-running sitcom “Palibhasa Lalaki” as one of her most memorable roles. Amy currently hosts the musical game show “The Singing Bee” every weekend alongside Roderick Paulate.
